Prof. Dr. Kees de Jager (1921) is Professor Emeritus astrophysics and space research at the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands). He studied astrophysics at the University of Utrecht between 1939 and 1945 and concluded a PhD in 1952.
Research
His scientific research focused on the study of short wave and high energy
radiation of the Sun, as well as supergiant stars.
What's more
He is one of the driving forces behind the Dutch unmanned space flight
and space research programme.
In addition he fullfilled many important tasks in international
science committees.
Now
He is very interested in climat problematics and performs research on
the influence of the Sun on the climate.
Furthermore he gives public lectures and regulary writes for popular
astronomy journals, like Zenit.
This film
He was a fellow student of Henk van de Hulst in the 1940s and saw from
close by how van de Hulst predicted the 21cm hydrogen emission in 1944.
