Close to the small town of Hoeven in the province of Brabant (the Netherlands) stands one of the two original Dutch Würzburg antennas with 7.5 meter diameter. The other antenna stands at the War and Resistance Museum in Overloon, in the Dutch province of Limburg. For a long time this was the terrain of the public observatory Simon Stevin. The telescope is in a reasonable condition, considering its age, and is still being used by amateur radio astronomers for observations of the Sun. This is not the antenna that once stood at Radio Kootwijk and with which the maps of the Galaxy were made, but it is an exact same model. The fate of the original antenna is unclear. It is said that the antenna broke down after its years of faithful service. Science journalist George Beekman did extensive research to find out what happened to the Dutch Würzburg antennas and published it in the Dutch popular astronomy journal Zenit of april 1999.
